A major fire had devastated the area. In Long Lac the children came up to our car and showed us the holes in their skin from flesh-eating parasites in the lake. Cryptosporidium in almost every lake; I even noticed some loaded with tiny thread-like worms. We saw one forest after another plagued by a parasite or a rust problem.

Parasites proliferate when the immune system is down in any lifeform. There is no effective threatment for cryptosporidium, and we are constantly seeing outbreaks.

It's become the 'norm' to see Boil Water Warnings everywhere now, and, unfortunately, our government has known about these parasites invading our water system for a long time, and nothing is done until people get sick.
